Ugh, Dating
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026
Ugh, Dating ("the app", "we", "us") is a dating app. Because it's a dating app, it needs an account and it handles personal information — this policy explains exactly what, why, and what control you have. We sell control and calm, not your data: we do not sell your personal information, and we don't run advertising or third-party ad tracking.
Information you give us
- Account: your email address and a password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider).
- Profile: the Cards you build — display name, age, photos, prompts, and any details you choose to add. This is content you intend other people to see.
- Activity: your decisions on other profiles, your Lines (matches), and the messages you send within them.
- Preferences & settings: discovery filters, activity visibility, quiet mode, and message-privacy choices.
- Safety signals: accounts you block and reports you submit, so we can keep the community usable.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data needed to run the service — for example a device/session identifier and app version — used for authentication, security, and troubleshooting.
- Purchase status for Ugh, Dating+ (whether a subscription is active). Payment itself is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card details.
How we use it
- To create your account and show your profile to other people in the app.
- To run discovery (the Stack), Lines, and messaging.
- To enforce your privacy and safety choices, and to review blocks and reports.
- To provide and restore your Ugh, Dating+ subscription.
- To keep the service secure and to fix problems.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who run the app's core infrastructure on our behalf — our hosting/authentication and database provider (Supabase) and Apple (for purchases). They process data under contract and only to provide the service. We do not sell your data and do not share it with advertisers. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect people's safety.
Other people can see your profile
This is a dating app: the content you put in your profile and the messages you send are shown to the people you'd expect. Please share only what you're comfortable other users seeing.
Your choices and rights
- Edit or hide your profile and adjust visibility, quiet mode, and message privacy at any time in Settings.
- Delete your account from within the app. Deleting removes your profile, Lines, and messages from active systems. We may retain limited records where required for legal, security, or abuse-prevention reasons, and backups age out on a rolling basis.
- Access or export: email us and we'll help with access, correction, or deletion requests.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data except where limited retention is legally required or necessary to prevent abuse.
Children
Ugh, Dating is strictly for adults. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we remove it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, and access is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
